There are plenty of reasons to get a will, but it seems like a million reasons not to as well. I went into it thinking it would cost a lot and that it would take a long time of sitting through boring legal speak. Finally, we bit the bullet and decided we should do the whole adulting thing and have a will just in case. I was a bit shocked by how easy the how process was. I think from start to finish it was less than 20 minutes and that included me recording most of the process (which did actually add time). While it likely would have been longer if we did it ourselves or if we chose the trust route, creating a will cost $89 and was very simple using Trust&Will.com. You can get an extra 5% cashback if you purchase through Rakuten (enter trust&will through the rakuten website). Scroll down to watch the review or continue reading.
The website begins by walking through a FREE consultation on what plan is right for you - a will or a trust - and even offers guardianship walkthroughs if you're not quite ready for the will portion, but want your children (or pets) taken care of should something happen to you. Once you decide on your plan, you will need to purchase to continue. A will currently runs for $89 and can be updated for a year after purchase and then $12/year to maintain editing access. A trust is $399 and guardianship is $39 to set up. They do offer 24/7 support as well.

After getting started, they walked me through every step with simple questions as well as offering explanations about each question. If there was anything I didn't understand, a popup box or the 24/7 support answered questions almost immediately. The only thing you really need is to decide who to leave your belongings to, who will be in charge of your estate, and if you have any healthcare or funeral wishes. They do give an option of including any real estate you may own or what accounts you currently have in order to make it easier to track down when you're no longer around, but this is optional so you don't need to spend a ton of time compiling if you don't want.
Overall, I thought it was very simple and also very affordable for what you get. They will mail you documents or you can print right away and sign to be completely finished. The only downside is that if your life circumstances change, it is $12/year to alter your plan in the future, though I'm sure if you had to meet with an attorney to change your will, it would cost much more than that.
