With summer upon us and fresh produce on its way, there are plenty of tasty treats you be had. If you're like us, you're either still having to stay home or follow distance guidelines. For our family, that means fewer outings for cold treats (slushes, ice cream, etc) as well as fewer trips to the grocery store. We decided not to let that get in the way of our usual summer treats (we just changed it up a bit). This is where the juicer comes in handy. Whether you are into juicer or not, this one could come in handy.
Summer is also a great time to start a new healthy habit, such as getting more fruits and veggies into your diet. You can only eat steamed broccoli or a fresh kale salad so many times before getting bored and turning back to the Cool Ranch Doritos. Juicing is a great way to change this up and get plenty of vegetables without necessarily feeling restricted or like a rabbit eating salads all day. There are a lot of new juice cleanses and diets available which would make this juicer indispensable, but it is useful for the less extreme juice enthusiast as well.
We tried out the Comfee Slow Juicer recently, but don't let the name deceive you, this beast demolishes carrots in a matter of seconds. With that let's get into the actual review.
Pros
As previously mentioned, it is extremely fast at juicing. Like somewhat scary, but also completely safe. It was very easy to assemble and operate with little need for instructions, though the instructions were very clear and straightforward. It has multiple functions including an ice cream/frozen food setting, typical juicer setting and reverse setting. In addition you can adjust the juicer for hard or soft foods which almost eliminates clogging/jamming seen in many juicers. It also allows you to mix your juice flavors in the machine by keeping the juice chute closed until finished or open it to allow juice to freely flow out into a pitcher.
All the grinding components are black so they don't stain. It was very easy to take apart and clean, just be sure to take the cleaning brush out of the packaging before you toss it (it blends in with the styrofoam.
This could be used for general household use or for small businesses as it can handle large batches very quickly. I'd think this would be a must have for bed & breakfasts as you could easily offer fresh, homemade juice without any additional hassle. It worked well with everything from mint leaves to carrots as well as producing a lovely slush when frozen berries were fed in. It comes with 2 screens so you can choose between juicing and blending (one with give you both juice and fibrous material together while the other will separate juice from solid materials).
It was pretty quiet to operate, though it does beep to alert you when it starts or if the cap is removed. There is a dump cup at the top of the feeder to allow faster feeding and eliminating the need to scrap food matter into the juicer. Finally, it stores fairly easily too.
Cons
The top dump cup doesn't appear to be removable which struggled with pushing through frozen fruits. This is a minor setback and doesn't really detract from the product. Leafy greens like mint might be harder to juice if you aren't doing a large quantity as the juicing basin is quite large. This unit is sized for larger batches. The cleaning brush can be hard to see when unpacking for the first time.
Overall
As you can probably tell, I couldn't come up with many cons. So far I love it and have used it to make mint juices (mojitos without leaves are even better), slushes and a handful of other juices. It might be slightly pricier than many juicers, but for its functionality I'd say it was a bargain. I would recommend for anyone interested in juicing capabilities and possibly even for use as a food processor for vegetables, though I wouldn't put any meats in here.
