Cudoo Online Learning Review and Course Preview

Education is typically very expensive and can be a big decision to pursue. Not so with Cudoo. There are courses starting at $4.99 as well as bundles of courses for a discounted price or a mobile subscription plan. I jumped at the chance to test out one of their bundles to review and while they did give me the courses for free, I am not receiving any additional compensation and the views are entirely my own.  Jump to the discount code.

Pros

Courses Offered

The website claims to have over 1,300 courses available, which is believable as they seem to have a course in any subject I could think of. They have basically any language you could want, though the various levels change by popularity of the language. For example, Spanish has many more available courses to complete than say Quechua.

They also offered TESOL/TEFL certification, personal trainer certification, or learning to code, as well as many career development courses. I believe this will be a great tool for those looking to expand career knowledge, learn a new skill, or looking to change career paths.

Affordability and Ease of Access

The language courses start at $4.99, while a bundle runs around $59.99. For the remainder of the courses, the average cost is between $24.99 and $49.99 depending on the length of course. This seems very affordable considering the learning alternatives. Yes, you could audit a class on Coursera or a similar MOOC for free, but you wouldn't get a certificate of completion or be able to to test your knowledge for all courses. Competitor sites charge around $49 for a certificate making almost all courses on Cudoo the more affordable option.

The other alternative would be college credits. Say you want to get into programming or website development. Comparing a level 1 C++ course:

Cudoo

Here you can see that a similar course at a university costs over 14x more than the online certification at Cudoo. This is what makes Cudoo a great option for those looking to explore a new field or learn additional skills without spending a fortune. Another perk is that you get lifetime access to courses on Cudoo when purchasing individual courses or bundles meaning you can go back and rewatch lectures anytime you need.

Finally, there is one last option for those wishing to take many courses throughout the month or year through a subscription plan. The plans start at $19.99/month or $179.99/year. While you won't have lifetime access to these courses, it does allow you to cheaply complete many courses or explore a variety of topics before choosing which classes are important to have lifetime access to.

Buy One, Give One

For every course purchased, Cudoo provides one free of charge to those with limited opportunities. By choosing Cudoo, you are effectively spreading educational opportunities and supporting a socially responsible company. See video below for more details.

Cons

Variable Experiences

Individual courses or bundles are only available to be purchased through a browser (such as on your computer or through the browser on a mobile device), while subscriptions are only available through the app. You can access purchased courses on the app, but it does add an extra step to the purchase process if you only want one course or bundle. The same goes for the subscription, though I'm not sure you can access your subscription through a computer or if it is only viewable on the app.

Not all the courses are offered on the two different platforms as the site only mentions 800 courses for mobile, while there are 1,300 available through a browser. The views are slightly different and different features are available.  See comparison below:

Overall View

They have a great selection for an affordable price. It would be nice to have a more consistent experience across devices as well as potentially more resources (pdfs, worksheets, etc), however for the price that would be a lot to expect. It was a great intro language bundle and offers plenty of info that I could safely get by when traveling as long as I remember what I learned when I finally get to travel to a German speaking country. Cudoo as a company seemed to have high principles and good social responsibility. I like knowing that by purchasing from them, I am also helping someone else gain education that they might not otherwise have access to. All in all, they are a great company and I would recommend as well as plan to purchase future courses from them.
