Strasbourg is a historic and picturesque town. This makes it a prime destination for tourists and as such, makes hotels, shops and restaurants quite pricey. For those traveling on a budget, consider staying outside of the better known areas of town. We stayed a short distance away and realized major savings.
The Comfort Hôtel Strasbourg is located a short walk (15-20 minutes) from Le Petite France along a well kept and lit walking and bicycle path. The path parallels the river offering a relaxing stroll and lovely views. The value of this hotel is exceptional based on price and location.
The hotel features free parking and wifi. The parking is conveniently located as well as gated. The lot may be too tight for those driving larger vehicles or SUVs, which is the case most everywhere throughout Europe. The wifi was reliable.
Rooms are quite small, but there was plenty of room for two along with our luggage. If you are traveling with a lot of luggage you may have more trouble fitting. Rooms were very quiet with comfortable beds and windows had shutters which could be closed to block nearly all outside light.
Staff was friendly and incredibly helpful, offering suggestions on sites to see, parking, walking paths, and more. We were pleasantly surprised to find staff spoke English, having expected to find French or German. We did not try the breakfast here as we were limited on time in the morning, but it looked and smelled delicious.
The hotel appearance and rooms are not 5-star rooms, but offer comfort, cleanliness, and convenience for an amazing price. The staff was better than higher priced hotels we've stayed at nearby. We would stay here again and would recommend it for anyone traveling on a budget, couples, and families.
